Changes At SVPS-WA

Dr. Gregg Schimmel and Dr. Monica Bristow opened SVPS in the Avondale Gateway Building in Redmond. From 1990 – 2017, SVPS offered comprehensive mental health services to the Eastside and Seattle communities. Several excellent clinicians, including psychologists, social workers, ARNP’s, and psychiatrists offered clinical services at various times in SVPS history. The office was managed with care and dedication by Janette Dowd from 1991 – 2013. For the last four years, Dr. Schimmel and Dr. Bristow practiced alone in the Overlake Office Building in Redmond.

In July, 2017, Dr. Gregg Schimmel passed away after eight and a half years of coping with Merkel Cell Carcinoma. He continued to see SVPS patients during much of his illness, and developed and administrated a MCC Support Group connected with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. In his honor, the Dr. Gregg Schimmel Memorial Fund for Merkel Cell Carcinoma Research Fellows – UW Medicine was established. Through his work and in his personal life, Dr. Schimmel made a positive and lasting impact on countless people’s lives and will always be missed.

As of January 1, 2018, Dr. Monica Bristow will be moving her practice to River Valley Psychological Services in Issaquah:
